There are two kinds of people out there: you’ve got tailgates… and you’ve got people who actually use their tailgates. In this video I show you exactly why the stock tailgate cover on my 2024 Tacoma is basically “less than optimal” the second you try to set anything on it. Stuff tips over, it’s not a great working surface, and climbing in and out of it just destroys your knees. If you own a truck—overlander or not—this is one of those simple upgrades that makes the tailgate way more functional. Then I compare it to the SnailArmor cover I’ve been running on my 2020 Tacoma for the last 5 years. I beat the be Jesus out of that thing and it’s still showing minimal wear, which is exactly what I want from a part that gets used constantly.
