I took the new 2024 Toyota Tacoma and installed the Ironman 4x4 Foam Cell Pro Suspension Kit and 37" Firestone Destinations M/T2 Tires and drove the truck from Montana to Overland Expo West in Arizona. What a great gas mileage test!

About This Video

I just finished installing the Ironman 4x4 Foam Cell Pro kit on my 4th gen Tacoma and slapped on 37" Firestone Destination M/T2s, and honestly… this truck looks sick. The whole point of this run was to get a real-world gas mileage number and see what the driving experience is like on a long highway trip with 37s and the turbo four. I left Whitefish, Montana at 6:00 AM and drove all the way down to Flagstaff, Arizona for Overland Expo West—about 1,179 miles of mixed terrain and conditions. Because 37s throw off the speedometer and odometer, I didn’t even bother trusting the dash. I tracked the actual mileage with OnX Maps and then calculated MPG based on fuel consumed, which is the most accurate way to do it. The driving part was the best surprise: cruise control worked great, it shifted right, it had plenty of power, and the ride/handling with the Foam Cell Pros was an absolute dream the entire way. Now the sad part—fuel economy. Over 1,179 miles I burned 99.49 gallons, which works out to 11.85 MPG average. Not great, but on 37s, I’m not surprised at all.
