Just the other day we had a serious storm here in Pennsylvania—what felt like a tornado—and it woke us up around 10:30 at night. I’ve never seen anything like it. You could hear the spin, the whistle, and the roar, and the trees were rocking so hard that branches were falling. Even the bikes on our deck flipped over. When we walked out the next morning, we saw the result: another tree down in our backyard—actually the second one that has fallen since we’ve been in this house (we’re in our third year here). What stood out to me most is this: God has been good to us in the midst of the storms. The house is one direction, but the trees fell the other direction—away from the home. Nothing hit the cars, and most importantly, my family is safe. I also share how grateful I am for neighbors who immediately offered help—“I’ll grab my tools”—and that kind of practical kindness matters. In a year like this, with things falling around us, I’m reminded again that protection and providence are real, even when the wind is loud.
