In this video I walk through the Lake Union Conference decision connected to Dr. Conrad Vine, Village SDA Church, the Michigan Conference, and what many are calling a major test case for church governance. I react to the FullCr7 article and to Dr. Vine’s own comments, because this isn’t just “news” to me—this is about whether a conference can override a local church business meeting on who they vote as elders. Dr. Vine’s point is serious: if Michigan’s ban stands, it sets a precedent that leaders can bench a local elder indefinitely with no due process, simply because that elder offended leadership. What stood out to me is how the Lake Union essentially “punted” and left the issue unresolved—kicking the can down the road—while still talking about “guidelines” for invited speakers, even though Conrad isn’t an invited speaker; he’s a local elder. I also address the larger spiritual issue: the church manual can be used like a weapon, reinterpreted and changed, so I keep coming back to Scripture as the highest authority. My takeaway is that this is an exposure moment—watchman work—calling for repentance, accountability, and a return to biblical order, because the way this is being handled is not going to end well if it doesn’t change.
