In this video, I sit down with the panel and we do some much-needed apologetics—because a young man is claiming you “can’t possibly keep the Sabbath today” unless you’re also offering “two lambs every Sabbath” from Numbers 28:9–10. I wanted to be gracious, but we still have to address the claim and set the record straight. We walk through the context: sacrifices weren’t only a Sabbath issue—there were offerings every day—and the priests were doing holy work in the sanctuary service. The Sabbath being a “high day” didn’t turn the sacrificial system into the definition of Sabbathkeeping. Then we build the New Testament foundation: when type met antitype, the sacrificial system met its fulfillment in Christ. We go to Colossians 2:14–17 and connect the “shadow” language to Jesus, the Sun of Righteousness, and we point out that Jesus is our High Priest (Hebrews). We also address the misuse of Matthew 11:28 by showing that “rest” isn’t a permission slip to discard God’s commandments—because Jesus Himself says, “If you love Me, keep My commandments” (John 14:15), and He is Lord of the Sabbath. Finally, I bring it home: many of us claim Sabbath, but our practice is off. Isaiah 58 calls us to stop doing our own pleasure and our own words, and that means Sabbath preparation and a weekly reformation—because Sabbathkeeping and redemption belong together in righteousness by faith.
