In this video I react to Elder Jim Micheff’s financial update from the Michigan Conference, where he admits the conference ended the year below budget and saw a major drop in adjusted tithe. I play his statement and then ask the real question: is this a straightforward explanation—or is it damage control? From what I’m seeing, the timing and the framing point to leadership trying to stabilize finances without truly addressing the root issue that broke member trust. I explain why I believe the Village SDA Church situation is not “part of” the problem, but largely the reason tithe and offerings have dropped so sharply. When leadership bypasses church members, mishandles discipline, and refuses to acknowledge wrongdoing—especially in the Dr. Vine and Ron Kelly controversy—people don’t stop being Adventist, but many do redirect tithe to ministries they believe are faithful to Scripture and the Three Angels’ Messages. I also highlight how the Village’s giving supported major mission work (including overseas projects), and how those ministries have been impacted. My takeaway is simple: restructuring and redistricting won’t fix a spiritual and leadership crisis. What would help is honesty, public accountability, apology, and real reconciliation. And I close with an important announcement: Dr. Vine is coming back to AMC to address the Lake Union decision and respond to this latest Michigan Conference message.
