In this video, I’m taking a look at the Govee Floor Lamp 2 and why it’s such a fun option for smart home accent lighting—especially now that it has Matter support. I go through the unboxing and setup, then talk about real-world use cases like placing it in a corner to wash a wall with color, using it as bias lighting near a TV setup, or just adding some vibe lighting to an office or living room. I also cover brightness and color performance, plus what you can do inside the Govee app with paint-style color control and built-in lighting effects. The big focus is how Matter changes the experience, so I walk through pairing it with Apple Home (and also mention Amazon and Google). I also call out a key missing feature that I think a lot of Apple Home users will care about, and I show how I’m handling some of that with Siri Shortcuts. To wrap up, I cover the handheld remote, whether it remembers its power state after being turned off, and my final thoughts on who this lamp is actually for if you’re building out a smart home lighting setup.
