In this video I’m testing the eufy Smart Lock E30, and the headline feature is simple: Matter support that works with Apple Home over Thread. If you’re an Apple Home user, that’s a big deal because it means fast, reliable control without living and dying by a random Wi‑Fi connection. I walk through what you actually need for Matter over Thread (think Apple TV or HomePod acting as a home hub), then I show what the lock looks like inside Apple Home and what features you get there. I also cover the real-world stuff that matters day to day: the keypad for passcodes, the fingerprint reader, and the fact that you still get a physical key plus USB‑C backup power if the batteries die at the worst possible time. I unbox it, install it, and then test controlling it from the Apple devices most of us actually use—Apple TV/HomePod, Apple Watch, and of course the Home app. I briefly touch on the Google/Amazon experience too, but I’m focused on whether this is worth adding to an Apple Home setup, and where the eufy app adds extra features beyond what Apple Home exposes.
