I wasn’t even planning to buy a new camera, but I wanted something that feels like the best of both worlds: the ease of vlogging from my Sony ZV-1 (flip screen, grab-and-go) and the cinematic look I love from my Sony A7R III (full-frame vibes), without the annoying limitations like low-light grain and not being able to see myself without an external monitor. I walk you through my old setup, why it started to hold me back (hello 1-inch sensor in low light), and what makes the ZV-E1 so exciting for cozy, cinematic vlogs—like improved in-body stabilization that can look gimbal-smooth, plus 10-bit options for nicer color grading. I also share a real-world test while filming Too Faced content at home with controlled lighting (key light + a simple table lamp as a back light), and then how it performs when you don’t have that control—especially in low light. I also keep it real about the “hidden” requirements for 10-bit 4:2:2 (you need the right SD card or SSD), and my experience with overheating in different climates.
