Looking for better mandrels for your 3M or Dedeco radial disk buffers? In this video, I share a simple 3D-printed upgrade for jewelry buffers that I use when polishing knives. The standard mandrels sold for these aren’t great, so my friend John Gorman designed these 3D-printed versions. They’re cheaper, easier to replace, and in my experience, a big improvement. They’re not indestructible (they can crack if you over-tighten), but since you can print them with PLA, they’re super inexpensive and easy to make. Best of all — I’m sharing them with the community for free. You’re welcome to use them, improve them, and pass them along, as long as they remain non-profit. ***UPDATE*** Curious about 3D printing? These are the printers I personally run in my shop every single day. I’ve become a huge fan of Bambu Lab because their machines are some of the easiest, fastest, and most reliable printers I’ve ever used. What started with one printer has now grown into a full mini print farm with 7 machines constantly producing products, prototypes, shop tools, and customer orders. Whether it’s multi-color printing, high-speed production, or just dependable day-to-day work, these printers have been amazing for my business. One of the biggest reasons I recommend them is how beginner friendly they are. You do not need to be a tech expert to get great results. They’ve made 3D printing more accessible than ever, while still offering advanced features for experienced makers. If you’re thinking about jumping into 3D printing and have questions, feel free to ask. I’m always happy to share what I’ve learned. 🔥 H2C This is my most advanced printer and one of the coolest machines in the shop. It handles multi-color printing and very large projects while wasting very little filament. https://tidd.ly/4dkQrWZ 🔥 P2S I own THREE of these because they’ve been such dependable workhorses. These printers run constantly making products for my business. https://tidd.ly/4uOnxpB 🔥 X2D My newest addition. It features a dual-nozzle setup and gives you a lot of the same great capabilities as the P2S with some really nice upgrades. https://tidd.ly/4uLolLO 🔥 X1C The printer that started it all for me. This was my first Bambu printer and the machine that convinced me how good these printers really are. They no longer make it, but you can check out the main Bambu website here: https://tidd.ly/4fiCKdO If you print your own or come up with a better design, drop a comment and share it so everyone can benefit. Let’s keep building tools that make polishing and buffing easier for all of us! For those without a 3D printer, John is working on an improved version that he may offer on Etsy if he’s happy with the final design. I’ll keep you posted on that progress.
