In this video, I test out a new soft PLA filament that is advertised as food safe and flexible — and it may be a great option for making custom 3D printed knife sleeves. I’ve been making custom sleeves for customer knives, especially higher-end knives and the Taski knives I sell from Japan. Until now, I’ve mostly used TPU, which works great, but this new soft PLA prints much faster, comes in white for UV printing, and feels very similar in flexibility. For this project, I made a custom sleeve for one of my client’s real Bob Kramer knife to help keep it protected when she brings it in for sharpening.
