About This Video

In this video I unbox, install, and give my first impressions of the Oase BioMaster 2 600 on my 240L African cichlid tank. I needed a new solution because my Eheim Pro2 2026 (nearly 20 years old and in storage for ages) started leaking right when I moved the tank into the fish room. I also tried going down the Fluval FX4 route, but the pipework and rim connectors weren’t going to fit this particular tank without a lot of messing about, so I decided to keep it simple and go with the BioMaster. I go through everything you get in the box, how the inlet/outlet options work, and why the built-in pre-filter is such a big deal for maintenance. I also show how I loaded it up with my existing biomedia (so I’m not starting from scratch), fitted it into the cabinet with drip trays for peace of mind, added the rubber feet to reduce vibration, and then primed it (honestly, one push was plenty for me). After about a week running, it’s been really quiet, no leaks, and I’m genuinely impressed with the build quality and functionality. I’m even considering converting it to a thermo later just to declutter the heater from inside the tank.
