I have been searching for an Aquarium light that will be perfect for my African Cichlids. @fluval do an incredible range of Aquarium lights so I decided to pick up the Aquasky 3.0, which is fully customisable and will be ideal for my cichlids that prefer a blue pallet that is more subdued. About This Video

When it comes to picking a light for your aquarium, there’s so much choice out there—premium, budget, and everything in between. In this video I’m setting up and properly testing the Fluval Aquasky 3.0 on my African cichlid tank. I’m a bit late to the party because these have been out a while, but I wanted a light that isn’t just about blasting PAR for plants—I wanted something I could dim down, tune the colours, and keep things more subdued to suit cichlids (and help me avoid kicking off loads of algae). I also run through a few of the other lights I’ve used—budget RGB options like the Lominie Asta 20, a Hygger with more built-in functions, and a Superfish that’s basically on/off (I use smart plugs for timers). Then I get the Aquasky installed, connect it to the FluvalConnect app over Bluetooth, do the inevitable firmware update, and show you the presets, the thunderstorm mode, and the full “Pro” custom schedule. The setting I landed on was 100% blue with 10% white, with sunrise and sunset transitions, then a moonlight-style fade before lights out. It’s made a massive difference to how the fish look and behave, and for just over £100 with a strong warranty, I genuinely think it’s well worth it.
