I’m testing real-world music production, making beats on the MPC Live 3, and comparing the workflow mindset to modern DAW setups like FL Studio. No hype, no fanboy takes — just the honest reality. If you’re into music production, making beats, or thinking about buying the MPC Live III, this one might save you some money (or confirm your regret). About This Video

I’ve been making music in FL Studio for years, so in this video I put myself in that “strip everything down” situation: no mouse, no plugins, no big screen… just the Akai MPC Live III. I go over what Akai actually got right in 2026 (because on paper this thing is crazy) and what they fumbled, especially when you compare it to a modern MacBook/PC DAW workflow. I break it into three parts: setup, my real-world experience making beats on it, and the final question everybody cares about—is it worth the money? Setup is stupid easy: you can literally power it on and make music instantly, no computer required. It’s got an 8-core Gen 2 processor, 4GB RAM, up to 128GB storage, Wi‑Fi/Bluetooth, battery power, speakers, a 7-inch touchscreen, XLR/TRS I/O, and those RGB pads with the 3D touch tech. The beat-making experience was honestly a joy and probably the funnest thing I’ve used for making beats, but there’s a learning curve and I kept missing the speed of clicking around like I do in FL Studio. My conclusion is simple: at $1600 it’s pricey in this economy, and for a lot of beginners a laptop + DAW makes more sense—unless you specifically want that MPC workflow or can grab it used for a better deal.
