Join us online for our family program Stories and Art, where we tell stories and look at art together! This month’s story, “The Man, the Boy, and the Donkey,” is based on one of Aesop’s fables about an unusual trip to the market and the importance of making your own decisions. The story is paired with two artworks from the Yale University Art Gallery’s collection: an unattributed drawing titled “Aesop’s Fable of the Man, the Boy, and the Donkey” (ca. 1565) and an etching by John Thomas Lundbye, “Standing Donkey” (1834). As you listen to the story, notice what details you see in the artwork. Then, using a piece of paper and a pencil, draw or write about what might happen next. We hope you have fun!
