Please join us online for our family program Stories and Art, where we tell stories and look at art together. This story is based on a Japanese folktale called “The Boy who Drew Cats,” and paired with the two paintings from the Asian Collection: Cat and Butterfly, by Chinese artist Ren Yu, and Girl Playing with Cats, by Japanese artist Nishimura Shigenaga. Look at cats, cats, and more cats in paintings and prints as you listen to a version of the folktale about the young artist Joji in “The Boy who Drew Cats.” Then get your pencil and paper ready so you can create your own pictures of animals. We’d love to see what you make, so post your art on Instagram using the hashtag #yaleartgalleryathome.
