Join us online for our family program Stories and Art, where we tell stories and look at art together! This month’s story, “The Artists’ Contest,” is based on a myth recorded by the ancient Roman historian Pliny the Elder, about the artists Zeuxis and Parrhasius. The story is paired with two works from the Yale University Art Gallery’s collection: Audrey Flack’s painting “Time to Save,” (1979) and an etching from Joachim von Sandrart’s “Iconologica Deorum” (1680). As you listen to the story, notice the realistic details you see in the artwork. Then, using a piece of paper and a pencil, make a list of all the things you see in Audrey Flack’s painting and draw your favorites. We hope you have fun!
