Join us online for our family program Stories and Art, where we tell stories and look at art together! This month’s story, “How the Rabbit Got to the Moon,” is based on a legend from the Huastec people, who live on the Gulf Coast of Mexico. The story is paired with a Mexican censer in the shape of a rabbit head (1200–1521) from the Yale University Art Gallery’s collection. As you listen to the story, notice what details you see in the artwork. Then, using a piece of paper and a pencil, draw what you think the rabbit saw while he was on the moon. We hope you have fun!
