Macbook Air M1 Laptop Review - 10 reasons you should buy the M1 MacBook Air!

10 reasons you should buy the M1 Macbook air 1. performance - the M1 MacBook air is insanely powerful for its weight and size class. Final cut pro, photo editing in Affinity, compiling xcode projects. This computer absolutely destroys my well specked 2013 iMac 2. Battery life - I been using this computer as my secondary computer. i use it about 2-3 hours a day to catch up on email and news, watch a few youtube video and do a little photo editing while I’m chilling on the couch. i have only had to charge it about once a week 3. fan-less design - even with all the performance and battery advantages it absolutely silent and has no heating issues, being on my lap for 2-3 hours straight 4. form factor- the MacBook air is thin, light and small while still retaining amazing performance and battery life.and though this is a design from 2015 it still looks great and the build quality is outstanding. 5. function keys and touch ID, keyboard and trackpad- touch id allows you to log into the computer very quick and authenticate all your purchase and autocomplete all your forms instantly, and the lack of touch bar, i would actually consider a great feature cause it allows you to control aspects like brightness and sounds instantly and also allows for shortcuts to work much quicker. The New magic keyboard feels a lot better than the butterfly keyboard and the multitouch iPad is the best in the business and give the smoothes experience. I think i switch to macs mostly for their amazing trackpads. 6. The screen is amazing with a retina display and p3 color gamut, making this a great screen for video/photo editing and media consumption in general, though i wish it had HDR support as well. 7. high speed IO. with thunderbolt 4 all your accessories will run super fast, and with a lot of accessories like my t7 Samsung SSD you get the full speed of whatever you plug into it. 8. Ultra high speed internal storage - A big bottle neck for a lot of computers is how quickly they can access information from the internal storage and the MacBook air has industry leading speeds with the SSD, this also alows for your SSD to be used as swap for your RAM drastically reducing the amount of RAM required. My 8 GB model has had no issues with pretty much everything i have thrown at it. 9. Software Compatibility - you can run iOS and Ipad OS apps on this. while not all the apps are available, a lot of things that previously would only be done through an app are now possible to do through the iOS and iPad os Apps. Most apps not built for M1 run through emulation which still has amazing performance 10. instant wake - while the old laptops didn’t really take barely any time to wake up, the new M1 machines allows for instant wake. Once you have this its hard to go back. 11. Bonus 11th Feature is that you can totally use this machine as a desktop, I hooked this up to the Benq 32” 4k monitor and this setup is absolutely amazing. More on the Benq monitor in another video Some negatives: no more windows emulation - if this is critical to your work, then i would hold off until someone figures out x86 emulation for M1 or windows comes out with a release for its arm version of windows which should support x86 emulation within it. don’t expect to be playing any windows games on this anytime soon. Final cut plugins not compatible - some of my frequently used plugins in final cut are just not compatible as yet for M1, this might be the same case for other software plugins like logic, photoshop and other pro apps. but apart from that i think getting a M1 MacBook air should be the default option for someone looking to buy a laptop today.
