In a major step toward building a sustainable and environmentally responsible economy, the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan has adopted two landmark resolutions introducing new voluntary systems in the environmental sector: the “Yashil belgi” or Eco-label for products and the “Green Certificate” for environmentally safe production processes. These initiatives, spearheaded by the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change, are part of the ongoing implementation of presidential decrees aimed at promoting a green, export-oriented economy in Uzbekistan. The Uzreport TV got opportunity to talk with the representatives of Global Eco-labelling Network, who are currently in Uzbekistan and are actively working with the government to implement these initiatives.
