Bath innovation making chemical engineering safer through AI

ioMosaic is a leading provider of integrated process safety and risk management solutions. Researchers from the University provided expertise for the company to develop AI and machine learning systems to help automate processing of piping and instrumentation diagrams so that chemical engineers can more easily and effectively evaluate the safety of chemical processes. The Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) with ioMosaic, which has been awarded ‘Outstanding’ by Innovate UK, successfully applied novel methods for the company by incorporating AI to its process of safety evaluation. As a direct result of the KTP, the company will now recruit software engineers and build a centre of excellence that can advise on the application of AI within its software products. Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) are funded by Innovate UK to help businesses to improve their competitiveness and productivity through the better use of knowledge, technology and skills within the UK knowledge base.
