It is the 75th Anniversary of the Peanuts, and today, October 20, 2025, the new Peanuts collection from Esterbrook drops. To celebrate both occasions, I take a look at the nib that drew the Peanuts, the Esterbrook Radio 914 nib. Although the original is a dip nib, I decided what better way to celebrate these two events than to recreate the original using a JOWO flex nib unit from Esterbrook. We'll talk Peanuts history, what made this nib a favorite of Peanuts creator Charles M. Schultz, and I will lift the curtain by showing you how I turn a modern steel nib into something that draws like the vintage original. 00:00 Bryan Hulser of Esterbrook on His First Experience with the Peanuts 01:49 Introduction 05:40 The Radio 914, Charles Schultz, and the Peanuts 09:40 Drawing with the Radio 914 15:05 Grinding a New Radio 914 22:51 Reshaping the Nib 25:32 Modifying the Feed 27:11 Tuning the Nib 28:08 Testing the Nib Against the Original 38:24 What Comes Next: Sending the Nib to the Peanuts Studio and Outro Thank you to @Yoseka @appelboompennen @stiloestile04 and @CBSNewYork Footage from @CBSNewYork is as seen in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cy2jOghaAr0 _______________________________________________________________________ Uncapped is created by Joshua Lax, proprietor of the J.J.
