Record Store Day is coming up (April 12, 2025), so I wanted to sit down and just talk through what RSD actually is, how I’ve personally done it since I started collecting in 2021, and what I’ve learned from a few very humbling experiences. I walk you through my RSD collection—from my first real “wake up and line up” moment for Taylor Swift’s Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions (my 2023 holy grail), to the Olivia Rodrigo GUTS secret tracks 12-inch that I literally missed the first time because I was rotting in bed (rookie mistake), and even the Noah Kahan Cape Elizabeth RSD variant that fully got me into his music because the pressing was just that gorgeous. I also share my 2025 RSD wishlist and how I’m prioritizing it: my top must-get is Laufey’s A Night at the Symphony: Hollywood Bowl (I’m scared if my store only gets a few copies again), plus Taylor Swift & Post Malone “Fortnight” 7-inch (I’m not fumbling a Taylor 7-inch again). I explain the difference between RSD Exclusive vs RSD First, and then I give my best tips—make a list, research your store, watch quantities on social media, decide on camping out, bring chairs/snacks, and remember that a lot of shops put leftover stock online Sunday around 8 a.m. if you strike out in person.
