Hi guys, it’s Trinh, and in this video I’m showing you my exact monthly routine for cleaning and sleeving my vinyl. It’s May 3rd, so I’m deep-cleaning the records I picked up in April—because I like doing a “reset” once a month. I walk through how I open new records right away, put them in my favorite clear outer sleeves (so the jacket artwork doesn’t get distorted), and carefully move hype stickers (like the Wicked soundtrack + Record Store Day stickers) onto the outer sleeve using the jacket as a guide. For the deep clean, I use my Knox Gear record washer with distilled water and three capfuls of cleaning fluid, then I rotate each 12-inch record three times clockwise and three times counterclockwise. After that, I wipe in a circular motion and let everything air-dry on the rack for at least 30 minutes (sometimes longer—I literally set a timer). I also show what I do for non-circular records like heart-shaped vinyl: I put them on my record player and use my reusable cleaning roller to lift lint and debris, because I don’t love the spray-and-brush method. Then once everything is dry, I sleeve each LP (one LP per inner sleeve), store the records behind the jacket for easy grabbing, and I’m done—bada bing, bada boom.
