A few weeks ago, the European Union and the U.S. agreed to work together on a trade deal that included a clause suggesting each party would accept vehicles from the other's market - without requiring further approval. This would not only mean that the U.S. market could finally get small, efficient electric cars - but it might also mean Europeans would see an influx of large, pedestrian-unfriendly, heavily-polluting SUVs and Pickup trucks But while some in the media hailed the 'deal' as a breakthrough after years of animosity, we suspect it won't be quite as straightforward as some might suggest.
