Jade Lloyd, 32, became severely anxious after giving birth to her daughter Penelope in 2020. Terrified something might happen to her baby, she avoided leaving the house and couldn’t sleep. She was told by her GP that she had postnatal depression, however her condition worsened to the point she believed she had killed Penelope. Her family called emergency services and Jade was sectioned, diagnosed with postpartum psychosis, and admitted to a mother and baby unit, leaving her convinced she was being punished for her daughter’s death. Nearly 5 years later, Jade has fully recovered and is raising awareness of postpartum psychosis, a condition she says is misunderstood. Jade joins us with Dr Nighat to share her story.
