Yep, it’s a tutorial—finally. In this beginner-friendly (but past-the-basics) video, I walk you through how to make a classic, handy dandy simple granny square from start to finish. I show you two different ways to begin: the chain-4 ring method and the magic ring method, so you can pick what feels best in your hands. Then we build the square together for four rounds, and I explain what you’re actually looking for as the corners and sides start to “square up.” Along the way, I teach you how to change colors without making your joins look messy, how to work along one side neatly (without it looking sloppy), and how to finish your edges so your square looks clean and intentional. I also cover how I count my rows/rounds so you don’t lose your place, plus how I like to finish off and weave in ends to keep everything secure.
