I’ve been living in Kyoto, Japan for almost a month now, and this experience has been a mix of beauty, growth, making Art… and loneliness. After 3 weeks, I currently have no friends here. Of course, I am new to Japanese culture so I am a bit of an outsider. In this vlog, I open up about what it really feels like to live abroad, navigating fear, self doubt, and learning how to focus on the positive even when things feel uncertain. I was inspired to create a poem and Art print inspired by these feelings. I’m currently here for an art residency, so while my main focus is creating, I’ve also been craving connection. Making friends in a new country isn’t always easy, and in this video, I share honestly about that experience. I take you with me to a music event where I’m hoping to meet a potential new friend and also learn some lessons about how to not feel lonely even when you are alone. I also bring you along on a peaceful adventure to Kurama, where we have a relaxing day of solitude and I open up about some thoughts I’ve been having lately.
