Iran's supreme leader says Trump made deal 'out of desperation' as US lifts naval blockade

President Donald Trump defended a new deal with Iran, claiming it achieved all goals, including preventing nuclear weapons and reopening the Strait of Hormuz. He linked the agreement's success to the killing of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani, whom he described as a “mad genius.” Trump also criticized Barack Obama, making false claims about the 2015 nuclear agreement and alleging a $1.7 billion cash payment to Iran. He asserted the new tentative deal provides no funds to Iran and is a 60-day agreement, allowing for military action if terms are not met. Contrary to Trump, other U.S. officials confirmed the deal includes significant funds for Iran from oil sales and frozen assets, a $300 billion reconstruction pledge and the termination of all sanctions.
