In this video I’m tackling the closet in my guest bedroom/office, because after I switched this room from a workout space into a guest space with my desk, the closet turned into a “miscellaneous mess.” I had an empty dresser, cleaning supplies, golf clothes my daughter and I share, and guest bedding/towels that all needed to stay—but there was so much wasted space. My goal was to bring my craft supplies down from the attic and make this closet actually work for real life. I start by measuring and making a plan, then I build a budget-friendly cube shelf (I use cube storage a lot because it’s easy and inexpensive). I also add a drawer system from Home Depot that’s similar to the IKEA option in size and number of drawers, but less than half the price—and it’s heavy in the box, which I took as a good sign for quality. By the end, everything has a home: vinyl for my Silhouette is filed and color coded, my machine and laminator are easy to grab, ribbon and floral supplies are contained, and even our nail stuff stays accessible since we use it in this room. The result is a closet that holds way more than before, stays organized, and still leaves room to grow.
