I tested the SIRUI 40mm T1.8 1.33x S35 anamorphic on Nikon Z, and the headline is simple: it’s anamorphic with autofocus, which is rare. For around $800 you’re getting an all-metal build, geared rings, and flare behavior that’s more subtle and intensity-dependent instead of being obnoxious all the time.

Pros

+Very little visible vignetting in my test

Cons

-Slight distortion (minor bowing)
-Edges are a bit soft wide open compared to the center
-Nikon Z version is locked to Super 35 with no full-frame mode option
-My sample’s AF motor got loud at f/22
