About This Video

This video is my quiet little fall recap—part gear chat, part civil complaint, and mostly therapy disguised as something “productive.” Fall is always that weird in-between for me: I love the cooler air, the darker evenings, and the gray skies… but I’m also completely buried. Weddings, sessions, deadlines, travel—everything around me slows down while my world speeds up, and I’m constantly trying to find tiny pauses between Chicago, San Francisco, LA, Santa Cruz, Portland, and San Luis Capistrano. On the gear side, I talk through what’s actually been in my hands this season: my Leica Minilux (post-resurrection thanks to Rio Farmer), Owlkrown straps that have genuinely made long days more comfortable, and the Mamiya C3/C33-style medium format “old beast” that forces me to slow down and shoot with intention. I also share my experience with the Nikon ZF + Techart adapter—when it works, it feels like cheating the space-time continuum by putting autofocus on my 24mm Summilux. Then we get into the real stuff: burnout, people-energy on wedding days, and the editing queue that never ends. I’m tired, but I’m still making work—and every once in a while, an image stops me mid-edit and I go, “Damn, that’s a good photo.”
