About This Video

In this video I unbox the brand new Huawei Mate 80 Pro Max Wind Edition and show you why this is a very different kind of Mate flagship. The unit is fully sealed, so we’re starting fresh with that classic Mate-series black and gold packaging, and I go through everything in the box — including the cooling plate (the real star here) and a surprisingly compact 100W charger (20V/5A) with a cable that supports up to 6A. Design-wise, I break down the flat front display with the pre-installed protector and the refined punch-hole look, plus the solid black metal frame that stays subtly glossy without turning into a fingerprint magnet. Around the back you still get the signature dual-ring Mate design, but the big talking point is the Wind Pool Engine: a built-in active cooling fan with vents that are easy to miss unless you look closely (roughly 40% of that area is dedicated to cooling). I also compare it with the previous Pro Max we’ve been using — similar body, but different camera layout. Then I jump into HarmonyOS 6.0 and show where Huawei hides the fan controls in Settings, with Smart mode by default and Extreme mode when you want full cooling. You can hear it indoors (not crazy loud), feel the airflow, and it even stops when the phone isn’t hot to save power. My takeaway: if you do long gaming sessions, outdoor live streaming, or extended recording where heat kills performance, this Wind Edition is genuinely worth considering.
