About This Video

This is DJI’s newest drone, the DJI Avata 360, and honestly it brings a completely different kind of flying experience. In this first impressions video I break down why a panoramic drone is such a big deal: you’re not locked into one framing while you’re in the air. With two cameras recording a full 360° spherical view, I can grab multiple angles from a single flight, then reframe everything later in post. For beginners especially, that removes a lot of pressure because you can focus on flying the path instead of stressing about perfect gimbal moves in real time. I also talk about the actual camera setup: dual 1-inch square sensors, up to 8K 60fps in panoramic mode, plus D-Log M, and the detail and colours look impressive straight out of the camera. DJI’s rotating gimbal design is smart too—the second lens only exposes when you’re airborne, and if the outer lens gets scratched you can replace it yourself. There are limitations though: single-lens ultra-wide mode exists, but you can’t take photos there, and panoramic 120MP photos take a few seconds to process. On safety and range, you’re getting omnidirectional obstacle avoidance, forward LiDAR that can detect in darkness (still, I wouldn’t recommend night flying), O4 transmission, and built-in 4G enhanced transmission. I also cover the editing workflow—mobile conversion for quick sharing, and desktop software on Mac/Windows for deeper control like tracking, zoom, and camera motion effects.
