I tested a super cheap plug-in Wi‑Fi booster/extender as an access point, and it was the weak link of the whole budget network. It absolutely murdered performance in the worst location, and it didn’t even let me properly split 2.4GHz and 5GHz SSIDs, which is just annoying.

- +Very cheap entry point for adding Wi‑Fi coverage
- +Quick basic setup as AP or repeater
Cons
- -Performance was awful in my testing (major speed drop)
- -Can’t split 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands with separate names
- -Not something I’d recommend over the TP‑Link AP option
