In this video, I’m sharing some real talk that I think every teacher needs to hear: we have to be kind to each other. We give so much of ourselves every single day—to our students, our schools, and our communities—and the last thing we need is judgment from the people who understand this work the most. I talk about how easy it is to look at someone else’s classroom, someone else’s teaching style, or someone else’s centers and assume there’s a “right” way… but that mindset hurts all of us. I also dig into how unrealistic expectations of the “perfect teacher” create pressure, comparison, and burnout. The truth is, we all have different classroom realities, different kids, different support systems, and different ways of connecting—and that’s what makes education beautiful. There is no one right way to manage a classroom or run centers, and we don’t get enough respect from the world not to respect each other. My biggest takeaway: be the teacher who encourages, uplifts, and believes the best in others—because strong, kind teacher communities make schools happier for everyone.
