In this video, I’m sharing my Gingerbread Literacy Centers for preschool and pre-K—hands-on, play-based activities that keep kids engaged while they build real early literacy skills. Everything is gingerbread-themed (because December is busy and we need centers that feel fun), but the focus stays on developmentally appropriate practice. I walk you through ideas you can use in small groups, independent centers, or whole-class rotations—whatever works best for your classroom setup. You’ll see centers that target beginning sounds, letter identification, and uppercase/lowercase letter matching, plus rhyming and other phonological awareness skills. I also include gingerbread vocabulary and fine-motor-friendly elements so kids are strengthening more than one skill at a time. These are the kinds of simple-to-prep activities that help your students feel confident, learn through play, and actually stick with the task—without you having to reinvent the wheel during the winter season.
