We’re in September with only a few months left of the year, and I’m not waiting for December 31st or January 1st to “reset.” In this video, I share five practical ways I’m upgrading my finances before 2024, because I want my routine for the years to come to be tested and trialed now—so I can iron out the kinks before the new year hits. First, I’m taking initiative with what I consume: I’m selective with news (headlines + the economic bits) and I keep up through quick podcasts like The Squiz, because understanding interest rates, inflation and exchange rates affects everyone—not just people in finance. Second, I’m being strategic with social media by unfollowing accounts that bring no value and curating my feed to motivate me, not drain me. Third, I’m querying my parents to understand the “why” behind their money decisions, so I can learn from what worked, what didn’t, and improve our financial conversations. Fourth, I’m learning from millionaires through books, podcasts and content that I actually resonate with (I personally love female-in-finance creators). And finally, I’m doing whiteboard sessions to map out ideas visually and think bigger—without feeling locked into anything.
