Landing a Google STEP / SWE internship isn’t easy, and I’ve seen first-hand that “just DSA” isn’t enough—your resume needs solid end-to-end projects that prove you can build. In this video, I walk you through the exact full-stack web app project that helped me stand out: NodeJS + Express on the backend, React on the frontend (with Tailwind CSS to make it look modern), MongoDB as the NoSQL database, and Postman to test every API endpoint. I also show you how I explore new tools quickly using documentation (Node, React, MongoDB) so you can replicate that skill for any stack. I build the backend in an MVC-style structure (models, routes, controllers, database config) and implement real authentication—user schema, validation with Joi, password hashing with bcrypt, and JWT tokens so the logged-in state actually works like a real product. Then I test the /api/signup flow in Postman and verify the entry in MongoDB Atlas. The goal is simple: follow along even if you’re a beginner, and by the end you’ll have a resume-worthy project you can extend—plus you can use ChatGPT to add unique features so your project doesn’t look copied.
