In this video, I break down the laptop debate I get asked all the time: “Should I buy a MacBook or a Windows laptop for machine learning and data science?” I’m an IIT Delhi CSE grad, I’ve done ML/NLP/deep learning coursework, tons of hackathons, and I’m currently working as a Machine Learning Engineer—so I’m sharing what actually matters for students in India: compatibility, CUDA support, and getting the best value without overspending. I explain the core specs you should prioritize: Nvidia GPU with CUDA (industry standard), at least 8GB VRAM if you’re doing deep learning, 16GB RAM minimum (32GB if you can), and a decent CPU (i5/Ryzen 5 or newer; i7/Ryzen 7 if you want to future-proof). I also talk about practical realities like battery life (5–7 hours is realistic for powerful Windows machines), portability (I made the “heavy laptop” mistake), and why I don’t recommend spending beyond 1.5–2 lakhs unless you have a very specific need. Finally, I share what I used personally in college (my HP Pavilion Gaming 15) and what I use now (MacBook Pro from work, plus my own smaller MacBook Pro).
