From New Student to Trailblazer: Anesu Whacha's Journey of Leadership and Empowerment

Anesu Whacha's journey from a shy junior transfer student to ASB President and the first Miss Juneteenth Spokane exemplifies resilience and servant leadership. Despite arriving at Shadle Park High School from another country, she pushed beyond her comfort zone to advocate for students who felt unseen or unheard. As President of the Black Student Union, she organized community events like "Letting Go" to promote healing and dialogue, while also serving as a columnist for The Black Lens Youth Connection, balancing athletics in wrestling and cross country, and working toward her goal of becoming a pediatrician through the MultiCare Junior Cope Program. Her confidence, ability to unite diverse groups, and commitment to creating inclusive spaces that celebrate Black culture and empower women have made her a beacon of inspiration—proving that perseverance and faith can transform doubt into meaningful impact for future generations.
