Make the Perfect Mai Tai with a Single Rum

Tiki can be intimidating for a home bartender. It's got a reputation for using lots of ingredients and complex syrups. Here's a Mai Tai recipe that skips the complexity, but stays true to the original 1944 Trader Vic's recipe. We'll use Denizen Merchant Reserve Rum, it's a blend of aged rums designed to recreate the flavors of the 2 rums originally used in 1944, but are sadly no longer available. To keep things simple we'll also use an Orgeat (almond syrup) off the store shelves. Sure, you can make a great homemade orgeat, and you can blend 2 ,3, or 4 bottles of rum for a fantastic Mai Tai.
