In this video, I run the second mini-game of my art competition: a straight-up memory drawing challenge that absolutely wrecks people (in the most educational way possible). The rules are brutal and simple—contestants get 10 seconds to study a single image, then they turn around and have 3 minutes to recreate it from memory. No peeking, no “wait what did the clock look like again,” just vibes and panic. Watching everyone’s strategies is the best part. One artist focuses on observing the simple forms to survive the detail overload. Another tries to lock in colors first… and then realizes they forgot hands, feet, and even parts of the clock (relatable). Someone else goes full “squint and color-block,” mentally stacking stripes and key color hits like purple, yellow, and that little red dot. After crayons down, we pull the reference back up on the TV so everyone can collectively go, “Ohhh THAT’S what it was,” and then I rank the drawings—Alyssa takes the win, with Timmy second, Anna third, and Jordan fourth.
