About This Video

In this video I put four artists through a tiny-but-evil hand–eye coordination test: upside down goggles + 3 minutes + one “simple” smiley face. Sounds easy until your brain gets totally confused, your motor skills feel like they’re on a skew, and the goggles give you this super narrow field of view where you can’t even tell where your drawing is going on the paper. It’s the kind of challenge that proves how much we rely on normal visual feedback to make basic marks. We run the timer, pens down, and then everybody reacts to the damage. One artist is borderline dizzy, another is weirdly nostalgic about it, and one just commits immediately and gets a solid circle because they didn’t hesitate. Then I rank the results—even though, yes, I’m still salty that my oval smiley face got judged “unfairly” when it was clearly a creative interpretation and a creative risk. I place Pedro first (most dialed first attempt), Edwin second (more “cirly” circle), Ryan third (mystery oval), and Jacob fourth. The order matters because it sets who gets to choose first for the next challenge—watch the full video for the final results.
