On top of that, everyone’s dealing with different tools—multicolored pen, alcohol markers, crayons, or colored pencils—so it’s not just “who draws best,” it’s who adapts fastest when the materials fight back. You get to watch the whole emotional arc in real time: people coming in with a confident “I have a vision,” then immediately having to throw that plan in the trash once the paper size, time, and tool limitations start biting. Colored pencil becomes a surface-area nightmare, ballpoint turns shading into a hatching endurance test, and alcohol markers… yeah, they weren’t my bestie. The big takeaway is that constraints don’t just make art harder—they expose your process. If you can aim for “looks complete at any cutoff,” simplify your composition, and commit to the vibe, you’ll survive these battles and actually get better from them.
