In this video I put six artists into a straight-up skull drawing battle for cash, and the first round is brutal in the best way: 30 minutes, white colored pencil, black paper, and absolutely no erasing. The second that pencil hits the page, it’s permanent—so every decision matters. Watching everyone react to that constraint is half the fun: some people are confident, some are terrified, and some of us are “I’ve never drawn a skull before but I’m sending it.” My personal game plan was simple: draw it big, keep it graphic, lean on anatomy knowledge, and win. In reality? Halfway through I was freaking out because I’d never used that pencil before and you can’t fix mistakes. But that’s the whole point of these challenge battles—your style shows up under pressure. You get to see how different artists solve the same “draw a skull” prompt, and how fast your brain has to flip when you’re treating lights like shadows on black paper. Pencils down hits hard at the end, but the takeaway is clear: constraints force clarity, and clarity is how you level up.
