A Virginia man and former IRS law enforcement officer has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for the murders of his wife, Christine Banfield, and Joseph Ryan — a man prosecutors say was lured to their home as part of a deadly scheme. Prosecutors argued Brendan Banfield conspired with the family’s Brazilian au pair, Juliana Peres Magalhães, in a calculated plan to kill.
