Today: Iran ceasefire on verge of collapse, and the Supreme Court's remaining cases this term

Today as it Happened on Thursday, June 11, 2026: President Donald Trump announced that he is canceling Thursday's planned strikes on Iran, saying discussions on a potential peace deal have been "brought to the highest level of Iranian leadership and approved." "Discussions and final points have been, in both concept and great detail, approved by all parties involved, including the United States, Israel, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Turkey, Pakistan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt, and others," Trump wrote on Truth Social. Trump added that the naval blockade "will remain in full force and effect until this Transaction is finalized." He said the time and place of a signing ceremony would be announced later. The U.S. Supreme Court term is in its final weeks, and the justices still have 23 outstanding cases to decide. One major case is the issue of Birthright Citizenship, and whether babies who were born to undocumented migrants automatically become United States citizens. President Donald Trump says no, but the ACLU, which sued the Trump administration, said if babies aren't automatically U.S. citizens, that could leave them in limbo.  And a Scripps News investigation found the isolated location of the Stewart Detention Center often means it can take a while to get immigrants detained there to a hospital for the urgent medical help they need.
