Large events with world leaders usually have a heavily choreographed program. Most of the time a Host Broadcaster provides live video of interesting moments like official photos, doorstep comments and inside the official meeting room. Sometimes music is played to drown out the coversations between leaders, other times the audio is mute. At the G7 in Evian, France, those intimate moments of world leaders talking to each other were carried by the French G7 Host Broadcaster with exceptional audio. Viewers heard UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer ask Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni “Did you sleep alright Georgia? Did you sleep okay?” Meloni responded with personal news that she stopped smoking cigarettes one month ago. European Council President Antonio Costa volunteered that he stopped smoking 21 years ago in 2005. At another moment, US President Donald Trump was heard saying to Costa “You understand? Greenland.” The director cut away to a wide shot before more details were spoken and the start and end of the conversation is unclear. During the official photo, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney stood at his marked spot on the back row as German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stood in front of him. “It’s height adjusted. Finally," said Carney eye to eye with Merz. French President Emmanuel Macron escorted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy down a long path to the venue. The two leaders were heard speaking about Zelenskyy's bi-lateral meeting plans at the G7. “With Trump, yes. He says he wants to meet….With Modi, I expect.” said Zelenskyy.
