This week I did a little special-edition Homelab video for Valentine’s Day, and I’m honestly surprised how fun this one is. I’m setting up “Shared Moments,” a self-hosted photo + video sharing app where you can build a timeline of your relationship (or honestly, any set of memories) and then keep adding to it throughout the year. It gives you a clean “story” page with a cover image, your anniversary date, a running “how long we’ve been together” counter, a timeline of moments, and even a countdown (like Valentine’s Day, anniversaries, trips, whatever you want). I walk through what the app looks like from the user side—adding moments, editing entries, and how it sorts by date—using my Disney trip as an example since I don’t really have anything going on this year. Then I show the setup: grab the docker-compose.yml from the GitHub repo, update the volume paths, and please change the default database passwords (because “super secret password” is not super secret). After a quick `docker compose up -d`, it’s running on port 5000 if you’re not using a reverse proxy, and I also mention my setup with Nginx + TLS. From there you do the initial configuration: story title, access password, profile dates, relationship status, and your cover image that shows on every page.
